What Are Non-Reloadable Virtual Cards?
Non-reloadable virtual cards are single-use prepaid Visa or Mastercard cards that you purchase with crypto. They're great for one-off online purchases, subscriptions, or anywhere you want to pay without using your personal card details.
These cards are provided by third-party suppliers and are redeemed on the supplier's own platform. Requirements and processes may vary from one supplier to another and can change over time.
How It Works
Choose your card on the Zypto website or app. Select the card value you want.
Pay with crypto. You'll see the total including fees. Always check the quoted price during checkout before confirming, as fees and surcharges may vary.
Receive your redemption email from Zypto. After payment is confirmed, you'll receive an email from Zypto containing a link to the card issuer's platform and the code you need to redeem your card.
Redeem your card on the issuer's platform. Follow the link in the email and enter the code to access your card details (card number, expiry date, CVV).
Use your card. Once you have the details, you can use the card for online purchases. In most cases, you can also add it to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay for in-store payments, though this may vary depending on the supplier.
After You Purchase: What To Expect
Once your crypto payment is confirmed, here's what you should know:
Email delivery time: Your redemption email is typically sent within a few minutes. If you haven't received anything within 30 minutes, get in touch with our support team. We can check whether the right email address was used or if there was an issue detecting your transaction. We're always happy to help sort this out.
Where to look: The email comes from Zypto and contains a link and code for the issuer's platform. Check your spam and junk folders if you don't see it in your inbox.
Issuer's platform: Your card is managed on the issuer's own website or portal. You'll need to go there to view card details, check your balance, and manage your card.
Our Recommendation: Start Small
If it's your first time using a non-reloadable card, we recommend starting with a lower value card to test it out. Try using it for the type of purchase you have in mind, make sure it works the way you need it to, and then consider getting higher value cards once you're comfortable. This is the easiest way to make sure everything works for your specific use case before committing more.
Key Details
Single use: These cards cannot be topped up. Once the balance is spent, the card is done.
Accepted widely: Works at most merchants that accept Visa or Mastercard, though some merchants may decline prepaid cards.
Digital wallets: Can usually be added to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay for contactless payments. This may vary depending on the supplier, but the cards will still work for online purchases regardless.
All major blockchains and stablecoins supported for the crypto payment.
No cash withdrawals: These cards cannot be used at ATMs.
Fees
At the time of writing, the card purchase fee is $6 plus 4.5% of the card's value, plus blockchain fees which vary depending on the cryptocurrency and network you use. Low-fee chains like Base or BNB Smart Chain will keep costs down.
Fees are subject to change, and surcharges may apply in some cases. It's essential to check the quoted price during the checkout process before confirming your payment, as this will always reflect the current pricing.
Common Issues and What To Do
I haven't received my redemption email
Check your spam and junk folders first. If it's been more than 30 minutes since your payment was confirmed, contact our support team with your order ID and email address. We'll check whether the correct email was used and whether your payment was detected properly. Don't worry, we'll get it sorted for you.
My card doesn't appear on the issuer's portal
Make sure you're using the link and code from your Zypto email. If the card still doesn't appear, it may be that the information you provided during the order didn't meet the issuer's requirements. Contact our support team with your order ID and we'll investigate.
My card was declined at a merchant
Some merchants don't accept prepaid cards, or may have limits on payment amounts from gift-type cards. This is common with certain payment platforms and high-risk merchants. Try a different merchant to confirm whether the issue is merchant-specific. If it happens across multiple merchants, contact support.
The card shows a different brand than expected
The card brand (Visa or Mastercard) is determined by the issuer and may vary depending on availability. Both work at the vast majority of merchants.
Address verification failed
Some online merchants check your billing address against what's on file with the card. Make sure the address you enter at checkout matches the address you provided when setting up the card on the issuer's portal. You can usually update your address through the issuer's website.
I sent the wrong amount or to the wrong address
Once a crypto payment is sent, it cannot be reversed. Always double-check the amount and payment address before confirming. If you believe there was an error with your order, contact support immediately with your transaction details.
Tips for a Smooth Experience
Start with a low value card to test that it works for your intended use before purchasing higher value ones.
Use a valid email address you have access to. This is where your redemption link and code will be sent.
Provide accurate information when ordering. Incorrect or incomplete details may cause the issuer to reject the order.
Save your order ID. You'll need it if you contact support about any issues.
Check the issuer's portal for balance and transaction history, not the Zypto app. These cards are managed on the issuer's platform.
Check pricing at checkout. Always review the quoted price before confirming your payment.
A Note on Third-Party Issuers
Non-reloadable cards are issued and managed by third-party suppliers. While we work hard to partner with reliable issuers, their terms, conditions, and card features (such as supported countries, digital wallet compatibility, or verification requirements) can change at any time without prior notice. Zypto cannot be held responsible for changes made by issuers to their products or services.
If you run into any issues, though, our support team is always here to help. We'll do our best to resolve things on your behalf or help you find an alternative solution.
